Shooting Fish offer a range of workshops related to Shakespeare that can be delivered as an introduction to a particular text or as support/revision for SAT’s or GCSE.
This year we have been working with North Lincolnshire Education Services to develop work based on key stage 3 texts Much Ado About Nothing and the Tempest. During April and May we toured secondary schools across North Lincolnshire delivering performances and workshops to aid year nine pupils with their SAT examinations.
“The 'Much Ado About Nothing' performance was excellent. The pupils really engaged with the characters and it helped them to focus their learning on the set scenes perfectly. It put understanding of Shakespeare where it belongs - live performance, a sense of fun : good entertainment. The pupils loved the workshops. The reinforcement of the content of the set scenes was a real boost to their confidence. They were able to explore the play through performance and to think about the impact on the audience.”

Shooting Fish are able to work across a number of subjects including English and History in order to develop drama workshops that aid the learning of a particular topic, play or novel. We are also able to deliver workshops that serve to introduce pupils to the medium of drama or more specific master classes to aid students studying towards drama GCSE.
Shooting Fish are able to work with schools outside of normal hours delivering drama training which is particularly useful for confidence building, team work and leadership skills. We are able to deliver one off sessions or work with a group towards a production or work showing.
We are currently working with Middlefield School in Gainsborough to develop a devised production based upon The Tempest by William Shakespeare.
Through North East Lincolnshire Council Shooting Fish were asked to run a pilot project at Hereford School using drama as a way to engage students at risk of exclusion from the school.
Over eight two hour sessions we worked with year nine students introducing them to a range of drama activities, the workshops were a great success and as a result we have since carried out a similar scheme with Matthew Humberstone School. We are hoping to secure further funding from the council to continue with work of this kind.
